Most repairs run $150 to $4,500, and the price is agreed before any work starts. A new system installed runs $8,500 to $20,000, depending on tonnage, efficiency and ductwork. Tune-up and maintenance plan prices are given when you book.

It is a rule of thumb, not a law, and we say when it does not apply.
